About Meteoplus+ Project
We have focused a research and development effort to address a wider need for an easy and free meteorological data access, providing a web interface for interaction with meteorological forecasts and observations. This research counts with many years of experience working on multiple organizations like ECMWF (European Centre for Medium Range Forecasts) and CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research).Meteorological data storage and access is an impressive challenge, because it is required to deal with many GigaBytes of complex information in real-time.
To archive our proposes we are developing a complete server suite, based only on existing (and ongoing) Open Source software; the range of this software is wide and includes the meteorological model MM5, the database interface TIDB2, the Geo IP2Location database, the Apache webserver and the GIS API OpenLayers within many others.
This project tries to respond for an increasing demand for free and full access to high quality weather forecasts and weather observations either in a raw or a processed "eye-candy" format.
